On September 16th, at our 2020 Endorsement Meeting, we voted to support the recommendations of LACDP for our local endorsements. Here are the three candidates endorsed by LACDP and NEDC. Scott Andrew Yang
L.A. Superior Court Judge, Seat 162

Educational Background:
Scott attended Betty Plasencia Elementary, Virgil Junior High, Grant High School and went on to attend UCLA, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree, and Southwestern University School of Law. During college, Scott was the Director of the UCLA Pre-Law Society and the Co-Founder of UCLA’s Mock Trial Association. He was also active in Amnesty International. While attending law school, Yang was a member of the Intercollegiate Trial Advocacy Program and was selected for Moot Court competition team.
Biography:
Scott Andrew Yang is a Deputy District Attorney, former small business owner and immigrant who truly understands what it means to live the American dream. Mr. Yang is currently a Deputy District Attorney assigned to the Sex Crimes Division, where he is known for not only his record as a strong criminal prosecutor, but as an advocate for victims and families. In the March 2020 primary election, Mr. Yang came placed first in a three candidate field, garnering more than 49% of the vote. He has been rated “Well Qualified” by the LA County Bar Association

David Berger
L.A. Superior Court Judge, Seat 80

Educational Background:
Berger studied law at the University of London, earning him a LL.B in Laws with Upper Second Class Honors at graduation. When the opportunity for David to immigrate to the United States presented itself, David’s resolve to pursue a career in law required him to complete a semester at an approved law school in order to establish eligibility to take the California Bar Exam. David enrolled at Loyola Law School and after a semester, decided to continue his studies and earned a law degree.
Biography:
David Berger is a Deputy District Attorney running for Superior Court Judge in Seat #80. Mr. Berger has been endorsed by the Los Angeles Times, the LA County Democratic Party, more than 45 Superior Court Judges and dozens of organizations and community leaders. He was the top vote-getter in the March, 3 Primary election. With over 24 years of experience at the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Berger has ethically, effectively, and fairly handled almost every type of case.

Steve Morgan
L.A. Superior Court Judge, Seat 72

Educational Background:
Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2000. During college, he interned for a Public Defenders Office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and spent a semester interning for Senator (then Congressman) Benjamin Cardin in Washington, D.C. After college, Steve served as the Deputy Executive Director for Honolulu Habitat for Humanity where he helped develop a 45 home subdivision for low income Native Hawaiians. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Hawai’i with a JD/MBA.

Steve Morgan was a strong first place finisher in a three-way primary election for Superior Court Seat #72. He has been rated “Well Qualified” by the LA County Bar Association, endorsed by the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, the LA County Federation of Labor and more than 40 Judges. He has also been endorsed by most of the LA County Democratic Clubs including the Stonewall Democrats, the Santa Monica Democratic Club and the East Area Progressive Democrats. Mr. Morgan is a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, Lieutenant Colonel in the Army JAG Corps, law professor and community leader.
